MacGregor has approved the widespread use of ISO 32 and 46 viscosities of RSC Bio’s FUTERRA HF 32 and 46 hydraulic fluids for all hydraulically driven freight flow equipment on MacGregor RoRo (Roll On Roll Off) systems.

Key reasons to endorse RSC Bio’s environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluid lubricants (EALs) based on renewable resource-based PAOs and other synthetic hydrocarbon technologies are:

In addition to field-proven performance, these products are US EPA VGP compliant, EU Ecolabel certified and German Blue Angel listed.

No design or material changes are required for the cargo flow equipment, as RSC Bio HEPR technology is widely compatible with sealing materials – especially the NBR type which is already widely used in MacGregor systems . This more broadly facilitates the shift from non-environmental to environmental-type lubricants as ships seek ways to meet decarbonization goals and mandates.

The longevity and stability of FUTERRA hydraulic fluid meets or exceeds MacGregor scheduled maintenance interval requirements for RoRo (fill and forget) systems.

FUTERRA HF 32 and 46 replace mineral, vegetable and synthetic ester oils. Because freight flow systems are complex, this can significantly reduce the number of drain, flush, and fill service cycles required to convert RoRo systems to EAL, saving time and labor. ‘work.

FUTERRA 32 and 46 provide peace of mind in the event of a hydraulic system leak. On board, many hydraulic fluids can damage high-value cargo, especially automotive cargo, as FUTERRA is compatible with automotive paint. Accidental releases of environmentally acceptable lubricants are generally treated by maritime authorities less harshly than releases of conventional hydraulic fluids that slick and negatively impact aquatic life.

MacGregor has also approved the use of water resistant ENVIROLOGIC 2 WREP Extreme Pressure Lithium Complex Grease for the lubrication of their dynamic RoRo systems. With its class-leading performance and environmental profile, this lithium complex formulation is ideal for use as an all-purpose grease in marine environments.
